CHRISTMAS TREE SELECTION

Christmas celebration is incomplete without a well- decorated tree at your home. We all have seen tall lush green tree standing upright either on the corner of your living room or at the side of a fire place. The tree is often kept outside the house to make the neighbourhood more beautiful, it also highlights the sense of socialabilty of the family or sometimes it is preferred to keep tree outside because someone in family have allergies. Whatever the reason may be, the most important thing is to put up a tree. Selecting christmas tree can be challenging however using some things that you can consider before purchasing one can make it an easier job.

Christmas tree is found in your house throughout the month of decemeber. But do you know why it exists at first place? Why do you decorate the tree? What is the history behind it? How long it has been associated with the holiday celebration?

The history says that in Scandinavia, during winters an evergreen tree was used be decorated as a symbol of life. As it was the only tree that was found alive during extremely cold winters. Later, this tradition of decorating tree during winters spread  all the way from Scandinvia to Northern Germany and some parts of Europe in 1500s. Apples and nuts were used as decoration and candles were used for lightening purpose. The tradition spread in England and America, when the Englands Queen Victoria gor married to Prince Albert of Germany. The practice of decorating tree in winters became common. These day the decoration of applea and nuts is replaced by ornaments, tinsels and ribbons. The candles are replaced by modern electric lights which are saver than candles.

WHAT KIND OF A TREE IS A CHRISTMAS TREE?

There are number of options to choose a christmas tree from. However, these are the commonly used trees:

• Eastern white pine
• Grand fir
• Nobel fir
• Balsam fir
• Fraser fir

The christmas tree shopping is one of the major task that has to be performed. There are number of factors to consider before going for tree shopping as it will be the foundation for all the christmas decoration. The hero of the celebration should be perfect. Although the choice of finding a perfect tree varies  from person to person according to their preferences. There are two types of tree from you can choose:

• Natural Tree
• Artifical Tree

There are some people who believes that the usage of artifical tree is better than that of natural tree and some believes otherwise. Both of them have there own reasons however below I have highlighted few points for both the categories.

REASONS TO CHOOSE NATURAL TREE:

• The scent from natural christmas tree enlightens the surroundings and when it combines with the fragrance of baked christmas cake.
• The natural tree lasts for like 2 to 4 weeeks with proper care and is then disposed. There is no need of making storage space for the tree once the event is over.
• They are less in cost when compared to artifical tree

REASONS TO CHOOSE ARTIFICAL TREE:

• These tree have high life span almost about 10 years therefore a proper storage space is required at home.
• Although they are costly but are considered as one time investment.
• It is convenient to use artifical tree as it does not require additional accessories like stand, tree skirt to cover bottom etc.
