VEGAN PANCAKES

Switching to vegan diet can be tough for many people as it involves giving up on animal produce. Finding the substitute for the dairy product is one difficult task. As it involves lots of effort to find the best alternative that provides with all the nutrients. One other thing that most of us fear to is to give up on the breakfast items that we like to have frequently. For me its “PANCAKE”.

Pancake is one of the most loved and consumed American style breakfast item. There are many versions of this simple yet delightful recipe. The vegan version of the recipe contains the same nutritious value and gives the same taste.

WHY VEGAN PANCAKES:

  • The vegan ingredients used includes soy milk or almond milk both the options are full with health benefits. Soy milk is high in proteins, calcium and vitamin D whereas almond milk is high in vitamin D which strengthens your bones, it also have ability to reduce the risk of heart diseases.

 

  • Apple sauce or coconut oil act as a binding agent for all the ingredients. Both the ingredients have their own nutrient profile which is considered good for health. Apple sauce aids in digestion where as coconut oil is capable of killing harmful micro organisms in your body and also improves heart health.

 

  • Apple cider vinegar is responsible for giving lift to the pancake batter and giving fluffy pancakes. It is also capable of reducing cholesterol levels and weight.

To make these vegan pancakes you will need,

Dry ingredients:

1\2 cup flour

1 teaspoon of baking powder

2 tablespoon of sugar (brown or normal)

Liquid ingredients:

1/3 cup plant milk (soy or almond milk)

1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar

3 tablespoon of apple sauce (unsweetened) or coconut oil

Mix all the dry ingredients and liquid ingredients each in separate bowls. Then add all the mixture of liquid ingredients in dry ingredients bowl and mix them well ill a smooth mixture is formed. Grease the pan with small quantity of oil and heat it at medium heat. Now pour small quantity of the pancake batter on the pan and cook till both the sides are golden brown. Serve pancakes with vegan yogurt and berries.

ENHANCE YOUR RECIPE:

  • Add a banana to enhance the flavour.
